Marine Conservation
"Ocean Watch Bahamas" is a volunteer and non-profit organisation dedicated to reef and ocean conservation. It is supported my membership fees and donations, dive operators and corporate sponsors. A proposal to the Bahamas National Trust and the Department of Fisheries for the establishment of a National Marine Park on the south side of New Providence has been made, which will also include the world's first reserve dedicated to the preservation of the Caribbean Reef Shark. The Bahamian government protects the Abacos' Sandy Cay, Fowl Cay and Pelican Cay National Parks.
