The Islands of The Bahamas  form an archipelago of approximately 700 islands and cays, 160km southeast off the Florida coast - only 30 of them are inhabited. Although The Bahamas are geographically in the Atlantic Ocean, most people will associate them with the Caribbean, which is politically acceptable. Each of these beautiful islands retains its individual character and has something unique and unexpected to offer. You will find islands that are city-like or uninhabited, overgrown with pine forest or simply sandbanks, islands with beautiful white coral-sand beaches or with rocky shorelines, islands where everything swings from casino to golf course and shopping, and islands so secluded that only the lighthouse-keeper has a telephone.
