Marine Conservation

Sea Wolf Diving School is currently applying for a tender to advise on the formation of a Marine Park on the NW part of the island, from Bat Caves to Hells Gate. It is a large campaign including an educational programme to educate the islanders on marine conservation. There is also a project starting in December 2005 to have moorings put in place and all the dive sites mapped.

Although there is no strict Marine policy at the moment, Sea Wolf Diving School is the only dive operator, so it is easy to adhere to strict environmental standards. There are local fishermen who use traditional fishing methods, but too few to have a serious impact and they are generally very considerate of the reefs.
